NH Poetry: An Argument of Roots

Marie Harris recommends An Argument of Roots by Cornelia Veenendaal (Blaze VOX Books, 2014).

Cornelia Veenendaal is one of the founding members of Alice James Books, the groundbreaking cooperative press with an emphasis on publishing the poetry of women. She now lives and works in Franconia NH. In An Argument of Roots, she demonstrates that she is once companionable with the natural world and wonderfully awake to the daily surprises of the city; a poet who is almost painfully attuned to the beauty that sustains us and mindful of the terrors that threaten to fell us.
Marie Harris lives in Barrington. She was the NH Poet Laureate (1999-2004). He latest book is Desire Lines (Hobblebush Books)  and she is a contributor to that press' Covid Spring.

This post is part of our celebration of National Poetry Month 2021 for which I asked New Hampshire poets to recommend books of poetry by Granite State poets. These titles are generally available from local booksellers and may be held in public libraries as well.
