Nationwide Read 25 Day!

As part of the Read 25 in 2025 challenge, Gretchen Rubin, author, host of the Happier with Gretchen Rubin podcast, and founder of The Happiness Project is partnering with Bookshop.org to host a nationwide gathering on Wednesday, June 25th, for a special 25-minute silent reading experience, followed by lively discussions about the books that captivate us.

Imagine thousands of book lovers across the US, all sharing a moment of quiet immersion in their chosen stories. Gretchen is partnering with hundreds of independent bookstores to make this happen, bringing communities together through the joy of reading.

Here in the Granite State, The Country Bookseller in Wolfeboro, NH is hosting a silent reading & discussion event to coincide with this national celebration on Wednesday, June 25th at 1 pm!

Great Bay Book Group Community Discussion

Announcing an exciting opportunity to take part in a public book group discussion of the book, Small Town, Big Oil: The Untold Story of the Women Who Took on the Richest Man in the World- and Won by New Hampshire author David W. Moore!

We at the Great Bay Stewards (GBS), in conjunction with the Conservation Law Foundation (CLF) are hosting a coordinated book reading and region-wide discussion about an epic battle fought 50 years ago here on the New Hampshire Coast. It was a fight against a proposed oil shipping terminal on the Isles of Shoals, an oil refinery in Durham, and a 10-mile pipeline between the two. Had it not been defeated, this massive development would have irrevocably changed our Seacoast region.

To commemorate this epic battle and reflect on its current relevance, we invite you to join us in reading David Moore’s excellent book this spring. Ask your local library, school, or book group to host a discussion about this environmental conflict – sometime around Earth Day – and participate in the Great Bay Book Group.

One Book One Valley Wraps Up this Week

One Book One Valley 2012 with Lisa Gardner, Thursday, Oct. 25, 7 p.m. 

 The culmination for this year's One Book One Valley takes place tomorrow night at the Lutheran Church - right across the street from White Birch Bookstore. The book in question is LOVE YOU MORE and Lisa will be talking about that, about writing in general and about what she has coming out soon.

Please come if you can. This is a great night to celebrate what we can do as a community when libraries from Bartlett to Tamworth and Madison to Lovell all come together to support an awesome program!
