"There are many to recommend, but one I just finished is by Meg Kearney who lives in New Ipswich called The Girl In The Mirror. It is actually the follow up to her previous book The Secret Of Me and is a novel in verse written for young adults. The new one continues the story of an adopted young woman who, in this one, is debating searching for her birth mother, considering and reconsidering following the sudden death of her adopted father. Meg, who is also the author of several collections of poetry and a writing professor, presents the poems in many different styles from sonnets to pantoums. Her afterword includes descriptions of the different parts and styles of poems with references back to the poems in her book to help the reader better understand how poetry works." --Willard WilliamsWillard Williams is co-owner of The Toadstool Bookshops, Peterborough, Keene, and Milford N.H. He is also a member of the Center for the Book Advisory Board.
Meg Kearney will be reading from and discussing the book at Toadstool Bookshop, Peterborough on Saturday April 14th at 11am.
This post is part of our celebration of National Poetry Month 2012 for which I asked New Hampshire poets and booksellers to recommend books of poetry by Granite State poets. These titles are generally available from local booksellers and may be held in public libraries as well.
