New Hampshire children, from preschool to third grade, will select the winning picture book when they vote in November 2017. The deadline for sending in votes will be Friday, December 8, 2017 at 4:30pm. Voting materials will be posted on the Ladybug web page in July.

The 2017 nominees for the Ladybug Picture Book Award are:

- A Hat for Mrs. Goldman by Michelle Edwards, illustrated by Brian G. Karas
- Albert’s Almost Amazing Adventure by Marty Kelley
- Dragon was Terrible by Terry DiPucchio, illustrated by Greg Pizzoli
- Elwood Bigfoot by Jill Esbaum, illustrated by Nate Wragg
- Hank’s Big Day: The Story of a Bug by Evan Kuhlman, illustrated by Chuck Groenink
- Nanette’s Baguette by Mo Willems
- The Water Princess by Susan Verde, illustrated by Peter Reynolds
- What to Do with a Box by Jane Yolen, illustrated by Chris Sheban
- Woodpecker Wants a Waffle by Steve Breen
