Paul Scott Mowrer was New Hampshire's Poet Laureate from 1967 (when the position was officially created by the State Legislature) until his death in 1971. In addition to being a poet Mowrer wrote books and articles on political topics as well as
publishing several plays. He was awarded the
first Pulitzer Prize given for correspondence in
1928 "for his coverage of international affairs including the
FrancoBritish Naval Pact and Germany's campaign for revision of the Dawes Plan."
