The 14th annual NaNoWriMo began yesterday. This odd acronym stands for National Novel Writing Month, which is "30 days and nights of literary abandon." There are a lot of tools on the website to support you in your work: word count widgets, pep talks, forums on tons of releated topics, and events to distract/help you.
The project is international, but there are local groups, including one for NH. The NH Writer's Project has "plans in the works" for related events. The GalleyCat blog has a lot of related material, and is a really interesting bookish blog. Merrimack Public Library has hosted events in the past, Nashua Public Library has a display on the event, and there is a list of participating NH libraries where you can go to write.
If reading, rather than writing, is in your November plans, check out the list of published NaNoWriMo titles.
