In these cold, messy, late-winter days what could be a better way to spend your time than reading a new book? If you are looking to add to your personal library there are several local bookstores offering great deals and interesting events:
- Gibson's Bookstore is having a store-wide sale this weekend. Everything in the store will be 25% off list price (except for previous special orders). And if you don't see it on their well-stocked shelves, they can usually order it for you at 25% off and have it for you in a few days. Sale hours will be Friday and Saturday from 9-8, and Sunday from 12-6.
- Main Street Bookends of Warner has a large selection of Sale Books and lots of events.
- Toadstool Bookshops offers 20% off each month's top 20 BOOK SENSE PICKS for adults.
- River Run and SecondRun Bookstore are offering the best deal of all, time to read! G.E.R.M. GREAT EXPECTATIONS- A 24 HOUR READING MARATHON to benefit the Portsmouth Middle School Homework Club.

If you like finding new authors and their work, may I suggest "Outcasts of Skagaray" by Andrew Clarke. Some readers have really enjoyed it. For details see www.threeswans.com.au or Amazon's website. Happy reading.
The jumble of comments, some accurate, some not, regarding the Five-Colleges Book Sale have been removed from this post. A post on the booksale will be added to this blog shortly.
