Consigned to Death by Jane K. Cleland (New York: St. Martin's Minotaur, 2006)
This first novel by a former New Hampshire resident is a murder mystery set in the fictional seacoast town of Rocky Point, NH. The story centers on the antique and rare book business of Josie Prescott and features the ruggedly handsome police detective and the cast of family and friends -- beloved, but not above suspicion -- that one expects in a cozy. When she lived in NH Jane Cleland owned an antiques and rare-books business and draws on details of this industry to add color to her novel. Her next book, Deadly Appraisal, is scheduled for publication in April 2007.
