NH Poetry: Lit from Inside

Marie Harris recommends an anthology, Lit from Inside: 40 Years of Poetry from Alice James Books (www.alicejamesbooks.org)
"This wonderful collection, with an introduction by Maxine Kumin, includes seven New Hampshire poets who over the years have been part of the Alice James Poetry Cooperative and whose fine work remains in print. This was and is a groundbreaking press with an emphasis on publishing poetry by women. My first book, Raw Honey, was an early AJB title. Involvement with this press changed my life. I cannot recommend this anthology too highly." --Marie Harris
Marie Harris was NH Poet laureate from 1999-2004. Her recent work includes a performance of the life of Amy Beach, which she wrote and performs with the North Country Chamber Players, and a collaborative project with her son, the writer Sebastian Matthews. Her children's book--The Girl Who Heard Colors (Penguin Books)--will be published Fall, 2013.
This post is part of our celebration of National Poetry Month 2013 for which I asked New Hampshire poets and booksellers to recommend books of poetry by Granite State poets. These titles are generally available from local booksellers and may be held in public libraries as well.
