NH Poetry: The Last Island

Andrew Periale recommends The Last Island by Mimi White (Deerbrook Editions, 2008)
Andrew Periale is just finishing up four years as the poet laureate of Rochester, NH. He has recently had poems published in Yellow Medicine Review, Red Fez, Omphalos, and Burnt Bridges. His work is also included in the 2008 and 2010 Poets' Guide to New Hampshire.
"Mimi White's poems always moves me and The Last Island is a great collection. Her work is sensitive and well crafted. It is also highly readable. This book won the Jane Kenyon award for Outstanding Book of Poetry for 2009--a well-deserved honor." -- Andrew Periale
This post is part of our celebration of National Poetry Month 2012 for which I asked New Hampshire poets and booksellers to recommend books of poetry by Granite State poets. These titles are generally available from local booksellers and may be held in public libraries as well.
